The City Council spends £1 million a year on keeping Gloucester clean - and it is YOU the people of Gloucester who pick up the bill for our cleaning efforts. We spend a substantial proportion of our total budget keeping the city clean. It is a big drain on the council tax and we want to encourage people to use litter bins - or take their rubbish home with them. We are stepping up our enforcement and have recently had a successful prosecution of a motorist who dropped litter from her car.
